Having moved to back to the DC Metro area from Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Laura is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC), working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. Laura graduated with a Masters of Arts from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, studying transpersonal psychology, a subfield of psychology that integrates the spiritual & transcendent facet of human experience. Through this modality, Laura is experienced supporting clients who suffer from intergenerational addiction, PTSD, and co-occurring disorders such as anxiety, depression and body disorders. Utilizing a team approach, Laura works with clients to replace maladaptive coping skills with healthy ones, increasing a sense of worthiness, and decreasing painful symptoms that keep clients feeling stuck in unhealthy cycles. Laura enjoys working mindfully with individuals, couples and young adults who identify as marginalized (LGBTQPI, people of color, women, bi-cultural families, etc). Having grown up in a bi-cultural, bi-lingual family, toeing the line between two cultures, two languages and two very different worlds, she understands how painful it can be to feel different than the norm, the average or the dominant group. Because of this she is passionate about counseling through the lens of privilege, oppression and systemic injustice, in combination with nature-based modalities. Laura is passionate about supporting the strength and resiliency of clients who come to Total Health Concepts to rediscover themselves. She believes that turning towards nature propels this sense of discovery and awakening, ultimately promoting growth, healing and a path out of suffering.
