Tamara Christman, MA, MEd, LPC

Tamara is a gender-affirming, client-centered, and emotion-focused counseling professional who assists clients with life transitions, eating disorders, mood disorders, self-esteem issues, and maladaptive coping skills. Through individual, family and group counseling, she enjoys helping clients identify and use their strengths to regulate negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in their daily lives. She uses an eclectic approach with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. She also works with Internal Family Systems and Neuropsychological Counseling through advanced training. Tamara enjoys working with older teens, adults, and geriatric clients who want to live their best lives.

She has over 25 years of school counseling, school administration, community and residentially-based counseling experience. She has also engaged in personal training and sports nutrition. She has a BA in Psychology and Family Issues from James Madison University, an MA in Clinical Counseling from Liberty University and Virginia Commonwealth University, and MEd in Educational Administration and Supervision from Shenandoah University. She is also a PsyD candidate in Clinical Psychology at California Southern University.

She is a member of the American Counseling Association and the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals Foundation through which she is pursuing the Certified Eating Disorder Specialist credential.
